The short version, Cher style: As if I'd be sketchy with your data! Your wardrobe photos and profile live on your own phone — like, literally not even on our servers. We only see your email if you sign up for the early access list, and we never sell anything to anyone. Read on for the totally boring legal version.
Cher's Closet is a digital wardrobe and outfit-matching app operated by Lunch Hero, LLC ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use the Cher's Closet app or website at chersclosetapp.com and our native iOS and Android apps (collectively, the "Service").
| Data | Where it lives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wardrobe photos & metadata (clothing items, descriptions, categories, tags, body type, profile name, profile photo) | Locally on your device, in your browser's IndexedDB or the equivalent native storage. Not transmitted to our servers. | Powering the closet, match, and try-on features. |
| Email address (only if you submit it via the early access form) | A row in our Neon Postgres database, plus a one-time delivery via SendGrid for the welcome email. | Notifying you when new features ship. We don't sell, share, or rent it. |
| Photos sent for AI analysis or try-on (clothing item photos, optional profile photo) | Transmitted in real time to Google Gemini (analysis) and OpenAI (try-on generation) as data subprocessors. Try-on results buffer briefly in our Neon database (UUID-keyed, image data nulled the moment your device retrieves it). | Generating clothing descriptions, outfit recommendations, and AI try-on images. |
| Anonymous usage analytics (page views, feature usage events, no personally identifying information) | Vercel Analytics. | Understanding which features get used so we can prioritize improvements. |
We use the following third-party services to operate Cher's Closet. Each one processes only the data described above, only for the stated purpose:
The AI try-on feature uses OpenAI's image generation API. By design and per OpenAI's policies, the generated image may resemble you but will not exactly reproduce your real face or likeness. The output is a stylized rendering, not a photograph of you. By using the feature, you understand and accept this limitation.
If you grant camera or photo library permission, the app uses these only to capture or import images you choose. Captured photos are stored locally on your device. We don't continuously monitor your camera or read your photo library in the background. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
You can:
Residents of California, the EU, the UK, and other jurisdictions with applicable privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you. To exercise these, contact us at the email above.
Cher's Closet is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EU/UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard practices to protect data in transit and at rest: HTTPS for all API traffic, server-side handling of all third-party API keys (none of our AI provider credentials are exposed in the client), and pooled database connections with credential isolation. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours protected.
Our data subprocessors may store or process data in the United States or other countries. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
If we materially change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. For changes that affect existing users meaningfully, we'll notify you via the early access email list if you've signed up for it.
